Motivation and some expectations:
Quite often, I find it frustrating being a student. Yes, exams are tough and yes, there is always a chapter or an article that should have been read, but that’s not really what I mean. It is frustrating because you sit, day in and day out, reading and trying to work hard, and yet you don’t really accomplish anything more than a string of letters raging from A to F on a piece of paper. Hopefully these eighteen years of school, nineteen if you count a year of “folkehøgskole”, will make me capable of getting a job where I can finally feel like I make at least a tiny difference somewhere. But with at least two more years until I have completed my education, I just could not let this opportunity pass me by. Because as part of DTU – EWH SUMMER INSTITUTE NEPAL I get to travel to a country I have never been to before, experience a culture completely different to my own, get first hand practical experience at trying to repair medical equipment and perhaps actually improve the conditions at a hospital in Nepal a little bit.
I look forward to getting out of this bubble called Norway, where it is easy to take privileges for granted, and I am ready to take in and learn as much as possible over the ten weeks of adventure which await me this summer.
